The company

FURUNO was founded in 1938 in Nagasaki, Japan, with the primary object of constructing fishing detection systems.


Since 1948 it has been gradually expanding. Today it is a designer and manufacturer of electronic systems with global presence and many dedicated customers. Its product range includes navigation devices, fishing devices, wireless and satellite communication devices, GPS products and medical equipment.


FURUNO HELLAS SA, a subsidiary of FURUNO for Sales and Technical Support, was created in 2009, recognizing the importance of Greek shipping. 

Business Challenge

FURUNO HELLAS SA (FHL) offers consulting, troubleshooting and support services. Where on-site support is required, regardless of the location of the vessel, the company coordinates and controls the process through its own techniques or through FURUNO's international service network.


To meet these needs, FHL sought:

  • an international, modern and reliable ERP solution
  • unified work environment
  • integrated coverage of increased needs in advanced Commercial Management
  • accurate information on the cost of goods and products
  • financial management based on Greek and international standards  
  • easy-to-use and flexible technical support system, directly connected to the rest of the circuits in order to monitor the technical support commands 

The solution

To meet the above requirements, FHL has chosen to install, customize and support Microsoft Dynamics NAV - InnovEra, an internationally recognized, reliable ERP solution tailored to the specificities of the Greek market by Data Communication. The implementation included: 


  • Installation of Supply Chain Circuits (Purchases, Sales, Stocks) & Financial Management (Finance)
  • Installation of the Service Management Circuit, for which special solutions had to be developed in order to adapt the system to the FHL Technical Support particularities
  • Creation of additional functionality in the bid / order circuit for the connection and monitoring of the fleet by the customer
  • Implement additional functionality in inventory to automatically create products with a serial number that is "inherited" from the raw materials
  • Statistical analysis according to the requirements of FURUNO JAPAN
  • Customizing Service Management so that it is possible not only to monitor the availability of spare parts, human resources (Technicians) and repair history, but also to manage a variety of additional information regarding each repair order, which can to take place anywhere on the planet, in all Foreign Currencies 


  • Improved productivity and sales division information
  • Faster customer's handling and servicing 
  • All necessary info regarding Technical Support on ship's electronic systems was recorded, in order to be possible to be carried out by a wide network of partners around the world
